Tria supports Arm®’s Project Cassini for rapid development of SMARC-based IoT systems

Stutensee, Germany – 23 November 2021 –Tria is enabling the rapid development of reliable embedded systems based on compact SMARC 2.1.1™ standard modules with integrated Arm® processors. The basis of this is Tria’s participation in Project Cassini, initiated by processor manufacturer Arm. Tria’s first Cassini compliant SystemReady module family, the TRIA SM2S-IMX8MINI, integrates the NXP™ i.MX.8M Mini applications processor with Arm architecture.

Project Cassini brings together three technology blocks that simplify the use of Arm processors and provide special security features: Robust standards delivered through the Arm SystemReady program; Security APIs and certifications that are developer-recognized through PSA Certified and PARSEC; and reference solutions and example implementations through a partner ecosystem. These features enable the realization of innovative Internet of Things (IoT) applications with an optimized time-to-market.

Tria’s Arm SystemReady IR IoT compatible SMARC 2.1.1 modules can boot several standard Linux distributions such as Debian and openSUSE out-of-the-box, without any additional modification. The TRIA SM2S-IMX8MINI module family complies at silicon-level with the Platform Security Architecture (PSA) certification, which is the new gold standard of security in the Edge Computing and IoT World. Tria’s standard Yocto Linux distribution includes Platform AbstRaction for SECurity (PARSEC), which supports the use of secure elements and a Trusted Platform Module (TPM).

Cedric Vincent, Head of Tria’s Software Technology Lab, says: “We are proud to be part of Project Cassini to facilitate the development of innovative IoT systems based on our SMARC module families with Arm processor. Thanks to the SystemReady certification and the implemented security features, IoT becomes a much simpler and safer place. Based on our decades of leadership in the design and manufacturing of industrial computing solutions, our goal is to help our customers develop the next generation of high-performance IoT and AI products.”

Tria Technologies offers a broad portfolio of compact SMARC 2.1.1 standard modules based on the powerful i.MX 8 application processor series from NXP. The cost-efficient TRIA SM2S-IMX8MINI modules provide high compute performance at very low power consumption. They are and are suitable in industrial IoT and AI applications, for example, building automation solutions and media streaming systems. Tria offers complete design tools as well as personalized services such as design-in support and carrier design review. The embedded modules are developed in Tria’s design centers and manufactured in-house in highly automated production facilities in Germany.
